Really?

Then how did he manage to get his classification changed to 'administrative aide' (a position which he'd no training in... but one that was in abundant over-supply, thus unneeded in Vietnam) after the Alabama Guard reported to Colorado that he'd not 'been observed on the base', and Colorado referred his name to his Texas draft board for induction?

If you think about it, the Guard owes the Bush's a huge debt of gratitude. When Jr. joined the guard to defend his country, he found himself surrounded by priveleged kids from wealthy families intent on avoiding active military duty. In long late night discussions with Daddy about how the Guard was being misused, the two made a pact, that if ever they were presidents the Guard would not be the last called to duty. No longer would people be able to chide them about being "Weekend Warriors", no by God they would be WARRIORS! First to Serve, First to Die! Thank you GWB!
