Doing genealogy I recently found out that one of my ancestors 5 generations back was Jewish, but even Hitler would not have held that against me, so the tattooed wrist thingy isn't something I can comment on.

Still and all, I can't think of any reason I'd object, in real life, to the government knowing who I was simply because of a card I carried with me at all times.

I have gotten people charged with drug crimes off when there was no probable cause for a search, so am cognizant that probable cause is something important, and protected by the Bill of Rights. Nevertheless, assuming for the sake of argument that you were in possession of illegal drugs, how would the fact that you had a national ID make you more or less likely to give law enforcement probable cause to search you? I just don't see it.

Yeah, you may be right. America survived some pretty harsh stuff under Lincoln, Wilson, and Roosevelt. Hopefully, we'll have the resilience to eventually get by the current exigencies.
