Twin V8s on a 50' Aluminum boat. Narrow by design. Top speed was around 38 mph so I'd guess they were propped down to plane off quick. That must be why they were called Quick Boats.

Rassman states that he ducked under water and dove for the bottom.

Likely not because of fear of hostile fire, but more likely he was scared Kerry would come back for him and cut him to ribbons with the prop of his boat.
