I didn't say religion was absent when the country was founded. It was considered, but it was not the basis for the country. The basis is a check on powers of the individual.

The kind of bashing of Bush that has occurred due to his religion is, as far as I'm aware, unprecedented in this country.

The man invites it when he says that he talks to God in the same context with sending the country to a war many consider a war of choice... the man has snorted too much cocaine and had probably reached the point of needing to be "born again or saved"
