Bush has totally flip-flopped on Iraq.
First he said we were there for WMD to defend ourselves from imminent danger. Then something else then something else again. He said he would be strong and steady but has given the enemy over there very mixed signals, first pulling back, then attacking, then handing over authority, then attacking again. Is is not the Iraqis battling Sadr now it's the US troops, but Bushies have been giving the troops very mixed signals, as if they don't know what the hell to do. Now that they're in this mess how do they get out? We approach our 1000th KIA casualty not to mention thousnds of others who have been maimed for Bush's mistakes. We need a new smarter, stronger president. That alone will help fix Iraq.

Why do you see the glass half empty instead of half full?

Because I'm a realist, not a believer in fantasies. Have you heard about the growing rebel forces in Iraq?

Also consider. You can't take a people from brutal dictatorship to a democracy "American style". Any people of any country have a distinct "group" personality. The Iraqi's are not suited to three branches of government like the US. It took us a political evolution over centuries to get to the constitution. When we finally got to it we were ready for it. But the Iraqi's are not. They are only ready to fight; first us, then each other. Democracy in Iraq is an unrealistic pipe dream. It would be a miracle to get them to adopt a parliamentary form of government. But that, I think, is what is best suited for them, and them for it.
