I know you didn't play in the river, but could Kerry have made it to Cambodia up the Mekong?

I have been reading reports saying no way. It did not happen.

I have read news reports saying the Mekong does not even go to Cambodia but am certain that is not true.

SpecOps did not use riverboats or swiftboats at all that I know of.
The SF Teams in that area used very shallow draft airboats for patrols.
I believe SEAL II used RB 15s and other small boats. The 15 is about 16-20' long. I've been on several. They are inflatable pontoon type boats with a very shallow draft. SF uses them too.

Long insertions and extractions were always done by helicopter. Helos were plentiful and could get you out fast if the insertion was compromised. Nobody I know would risk an infil in a big, poorly armed, slow boat when helos and fast mover support was readily available.

CNN Headline news surprised me and just did a 2 minute story about the Swiftees, Soros, Kerry and GWB. Not 100% accurate but not too bad. Definitely high-lighted the problem.

I was very happy to see it get some TV attention somewhere besides FOX.
