A swift boat could make a run into Cambodia from the place Kerry was operating in a couple of hours or so.

No way.

I don't believe it could be done in several hours. The Mekong and Song Be and other Nam rivers were twisty, turny, heavily occupied by natives in small craft and loaded with growth.
And they had significant depth fluctuations.
There was no way to run a 50 footer at top speed for a coupla hours if ever. I say a 50 footer could maintain 10 mph and less at best on 99% of the rivers.

Except near Can Tho and out to the ocean, it was not like the Missouri or Columbia rivers where you can get in your little speed boat and head out for hours at full throttle. And a swift boat is hardly a little speed boat.

And the reports I read clearly state the Mekong was blocked at the border to prevent boat incursions into Cambodia.

None of this matters. Kerry did not go up the Mekong and 5 miles into Cambodia at Christmas 68 or any other time.
It nevah happened GI.

Here is a map I just found.

Here are some photos of the Mekong.

Try to imagine running a 50' boat on a stealth mission up that waterway. It is laughable to even think about.
