At the height of his powers, Winston Churchill was noted for his frenzied imbibulation. At a State Dinner, Winston was seated next to one of matrons of British High Society, a carpetbagger from Virginia named Lady Astor. With the most impeccably over-the-top "Queen's English" Lady Astor scorned Winston with the admonishment that he was drunk.
