Quite right, but one can't invest in CDMA, while one can invest in QCOM, which is the nearest approximation to CDMA that one can invest in.

Sure, one could build a CDMA network, but the proportion of investment involved in the CDMA aspect is small compared with the QCOM investment.

That's why CDMA has taken so long to become ascendant. The value of the air interface compared with the total revenues for a service provider is still small.

Therefore, it's the QCOM way which looks easier, rather than the CDMA way. But your point is fair enough.
