Didn't you just get finished saying that Bush is responsible for the Swiftvets actions because he didn't denounce them. Kerry uses surrogates all the time. In fact, a few hours before he tried to distance himself from the anti-Bush AWOL ads, his high level surrogates, including Wesley Clark, held a press conference, arranged by the Kerry campaign, where they proceeded to make the same charges. Moreover, while Kerry's acceptance speech didn't self-proclaim a hero status, the overall presentation, including the film, was intended to convey that image. His candidacy is squarely based on promoting that image.
