Nope. This isn't coming from the Bush campaign. Our parties are way too risk-averse (even, with few exceptions, the Democrats.)

The Swiftboat exposures are a SPONTANEOUS citizen response to the insult-to-the-intelligence of pumping a phony liberal for president based ENTIRELY on a questionable war record.

Kerry and his henchmen practically ORDERED this disaster up. They are now going to have to live with it...

And, I suspect that Bill and Satan may have known about these circumstances all along, and were just WAITING for it all to HIT...

Why is everyone focusing on this crap?

I dunno. Mebbe because JF Kerry made "this crap" the centerpiece of his campaign?

Josh Marshall has an interesting idea.

Of course, of course, it's "Bush bully-boy tactics". When MoveOn.org was running those "Bush=Hitler" ads, were those "Democratic bully-boy tactics"? No, of course not, nothing to do with the Dems, a purely independent organization. Give me a break. The Democrats are not exactly in a good position to suddenly go all holier-than-thou over the evils of 527s. $16 million from George Soros alone, and they complain that a Texas Republican has given hundreds of thousands to the swiftvets?

The one idea that Josh is obviously running very scared of is that the swiftvet charges have staying power because O'Neill has assembled a solid case and is arguing with the facts, the witnesses and the law preponderantly in his corner.

the more eyewitness-to-kerry-did-this, swift boat vets, such as, larry thurlow, who speak on cable shows, the more kerry and his band are going to have to deny, and it seems, eventually prove their case(s). depending on what the navy records show and what has not been fully released with the form 180, this matter for kerry could come to an abrupt end. which end perhaps only kerry knows right now. as a pretty simple guy i would think releasing all the documents there are (form 180 style) would clear kerry of all the charges brought by the swift boat vets. i don't understand why if bush was forced to do it (form 180) that kerry would not rush to do it too.
