Sure, otherwise everybody would have to get re-married every time they moved to a new state. However, that doesn't change the fact that a state doesn't have to recognize marriages it doesn't want to. And yeah, it can cause problems, although, like in the days of segregation, people tend not to move to states where their marriages are invalid. Unless, of course, they feel their lives are complicated enough...

From the links, I guess you advocate stripping the states of their right to determine what is a legal marriage because they might make their lives more complicated? Is this something that really requires amending the Constitution?
