I was stunned when Thurlow said on Hardball that Kerry deserved his Bronze Star! As far as that incident was concerned Thurlow just thought Kerry embellished about the enemy fire. Of course, Thurlow's boat actually took fire: nytimes.com "A damage report to Mr. Thurlow's boat shows that it received three bullet holes that day, suggesting enemy fire, and later intelligence reports indicate that one Vietcong was killed in action and five others wounded, reaffirming the presence of an enemy." So Thurlow's memory is wrong. Thurlow was mostly upset about other events that he heard about 3rd hand. It seems everything is hearsay.
