One more thing on Americans...The best way to know Americans, is travel around the country via car...off the beaten path. Actually talk to the people. See what they think and why. Years ago, I read "Travels with Charley" by John Steinbeck. Charley is his dog, and JS's character does just that...travel around the country. I re-read this book a few years ago, because by now, I was older and had been able to meet more people....Don't usually like Steinbeck, but LOVED this book....

One thing that you can think about Americans while listening to various things. Each State in the US is usually as big as a whole Country in Europe. We are all united as a country, no matter if it seems as if we aren't sometimes. As near as I can tell, European countries are never united....always separate. Big difference when thinking about the US.
