The Republicans need to raise more money to help counter all the free support the Democrats receive via slanted reporting by the major media.

I just finished watching a report of the Swift Boat Veterans issue on NBC Nightly News. The major thrust of the report was focusing on who was funding the ads, etc. and repeating the Democratic response where they attempt to smear the credibility of those doing the ad. No focus was given to the veracity of the ads. No mention was ever made of the picture Kerry used of himself with his fellow-officers, how the vast majority of those pictured are directly opposed to Kerry, and only 1 of them is actually supporting him. No mention was made about the content of today's ad that presents Kerry speaking in his own words.

The whole tenor of the reporting was "those bad Republicans are smearing Kerry." Well, it's not a smear if it's true.

The claim that the Republicans and conservatives have an advantage in media coverage because of talk radio is vacuous. First, talk radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh don't make any pretense of being objective and unbiased. In contrast, the major news media (with the exception of Fox), consistently presents a biased view via selective reporting of facts under the pretense of objectivity. Liberals are so used to seeing slanted news that when they see something like Fox--which presents both sides of the issue--many think it's objective. Even more amazing, many liberals thing that NPR--perhaps the most slanted of all--is an objective source of news. Amazing!
