They also supported the Confederacy during the civil war by supplying arms, supplies. They built the USS Alabama for the South which wrecked havoc while in service. America would have been America sooner or later, with or without France.

Now they are screwing us in the Mid East. With friends like France, who needs enemies??

Consider that 200 years ago the flag at St. Louis was Spanish while Thomas Jefferson had just completed the Louisiana Purchase with France. The cure for this was to raise the Spanish flag, lower it, raise the French flag, lower it, and finally raise the American flag.

History has strange bedfellows.

My sister proudly explained to some Brits she met that she lived in a place that was on the Lewis and Clark Trail, and where Lewis left Clark on a detour during the return trip. The Brits had no idea what she was talking about--had never heard of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Apparently, British history does not record the fabled expedition, it being the principal reason why England was forced to negotiate away everything south of the current Canadian border.

Strange that England seems a bit more grateful to its former American Colonies for the outcome of WWII than does France.

Except for those who don't remember history . . . .
