Sioux, you should have put in bold the words, "They told STORIES at times".......... The Smear Vets deliberately left these words out to make Kerry "guilty"of what he is not. Politics is a very dirty game, eh? For thirty odd years or so, many Vietnam vets have been living with a sense of guilt and shame by association with other guilty vets who had actually committed atrocities. Recall the Mai Lai Massacre! and the horrible and murderous carcinogenic fungicides sprayed over the forests of Vietnam! and bombs indiscriminately dropped by pilots who didn't want to venture into heavy-flak areas but had to unload to make it look like they had fulfilled their mission! The mind set of many then seemed to have been, "they are all commies, so I guess it's OK............" BTW, many of these vets, especially those who were traumatized by what they had done or seen, still hit the ground, by reflex action, whenever they hear any loud bang as from a backfire of an car or truck or from a firecracker. And some of them still sleepwalk with their blanket in hand into their living room at night and give it a good shake "to get rid of them fleas" --- the fleas of Viet prison camps. You can imagine that these tortured souls are now mighty glad the Smear Vets' action gives them, at least for now, a sort of Godsend respectability.
