What's going to be tough for reporters is adapting to a new mind-set. A rough analogy is what happened to AT&T after divestiture. It took a long time for the corporate culture to move from protected monopoly mindset to competitive mindset. Many people never did - when you thrive for 20 years in one environment, you simply don't know what to do in another. It'll be adapt or die, but it won't become obvious for a while. It took nearly 15 years for the message to sink in at AT&T and some of its spinoffs.
