Moveon.org's coordination with the Democrat National Committee and the Kerry campaign has been pretty blatant in the past. The flyer I linked yesterday is small potatoes compared to what they did many many times. They may have cooled their jets lately. But the legal sequelae of Bush's complaint to the FEC explains why he was unwilling to criticize SwiftVets for Truth. The FEC formally stated months ago that they were not willing to regulate 527s, and said they would not even consider this issue until January 2005. I was reading an opinion letter by their general counsel last night that laid out the issues involved, could link it if anybody wants but assume nobody really wants to see it.
