That's right Ish. Dems act as though GW needed to gather all the crucial info by himself....as if the Pres of U.S. is chief cook & bottle washer.<g> The Pres literally has people who do just about everything for him. When he calmly continued reading to the school children for 7min, he was taking the best action possible at that particular time. In the meantime all of WashDC, (including VP Cheney)& AWACs were taking the required emergency action.

When the President is traveling his vehicles are always ready to move in seconds. Security 101. Secure communications have been within feet of Presidents ever since the "bagman", the guy with the nuclear launch codes, started shadowing Presidents decades ago. Reports were streaming in. The President was reading "My Pet Goat" instead of focusing on the the possibility of needing to order the shootdown of a civilian airliner, or any other more important task. What about if Andy Card had said "We are under attack, please wait while Secret Service gets the convoy ready and AF1 ready. Reports will be in the vehicle and communications set up on AF1.".
