Toyota Motors has already developed the most practical solution to the oil problem. It's called the Prius and it has an electic motor with gas assist. It gets 60 mpg in the city and the car rides very nice.

Incredible that we are still trying to find some way to develop a car that runs on nanotechnology , hydrogen or whatever.
No doubt here in the US we will develop hybrid stretch Hummers that get an all new and improved 17 mpg.
