What did Dwight Eisenhower do when high casualties report reached his command hdqtrs on D-Day? Did he jump in a plane & head to Omaha Beach? No, he calmly allowed his subordinates to do their jobs. That's what a leader does...he delegates authority & does NOT micromanage. Pres Bush continued to read to school children rather than startle them & consequently the entire country by bolting from the room. It was a matter of keeping calm while those on the scene, in the skies & on the phones followed emergency procedures.
