The other way to look at it is that Nixon dragged his feet to get a better political deal. That killed more of our troops, and many more Vietnamese with the additional bombing.

If the war had not been protested, what incentive would LBJ and Nixon have had to get out? None. We'd probably still be fighting that war...

I think it's an excellent idea to rehash Vietnam atrocities while we're fighting another unjust war in Iraq, and committing more atrocities. War itself is an atrocity. As you watch the American aircraft flatten sites in Fallujah, know that intelligence isn't perfect, and we're just as likely to be killing women, children and babies as "insurgents". Know that to the ones dying, it doesn't matter that their end came from a suicide bomber or an F-16 strike, neither ot which existed there until we brought them.
