In the case of the damage, records back up Kerry's version. And with the Silver Star, I don't believe there were contradictory witnesses to the shooting of the VC. I believe that O'Neill concluded this one from Kerry's book (how he did that, don't ask me).

EDIT: And Thurlow's account has been discredited. He claimed no enemy fire, yet his citation cites enemy fire (and is the reason he got the Bronze Star). So, either you have to believe he never read his citation, or he read it and decided not to say anything until it was convenient, or he's lying about the enemy fire. Or, maybe charitably, mistaken but too filled with hate for Kerry to acknowledge that he may have been mistaken.

JLA, no contradictory witnesses to Rood's account of the Silver Star incident. That means O'Neill's account is false.
