Mr. Rood's testimony begs more questions than answered. Were any of the other boats present beached. The statement "they had talked about this", the beaching, sounds unusual to me as I understood a Swiftboat, once beached , is very diffcult to back off, and leaves the boat and crew in jeopardy? Was Kerry the only commander to go ashore? If so, why did not the other sailors follow to help him during his heroic dash? If there was enemy fire did Kerry miraculously run through it? If there was enemy fire why did Kerry chase a lone enemy? Did other commanders receive the Silver Star or other decorations for bravery? Did Kerry's Commander congratulate he and the others based on the after action report, ostensibly written by Kerry? Amazing how Mr. Rood had a sudden pang of conscience to come to Kerry's defense. I'll stick with the Swiftvets until convinced otherwise.
