The US Constitution doesn't require that all state delegates to the Electoral College vote the same way. And, in fact, they don't. There've been known to have rogue voters from time to time.

But the state parties are the ones who put up the slate of electors, and they pick party regulars.

Any state that wanted to could change this by law, but none of them want to.

As for getting rid of the Electoral College, take a look at the Constitution, which requires a supermajority of states to amend, and take a look at the number of "red" states. Not going to happen anytime soon.

The Metros can scream all they want, the Retros have a majority of states. And the last time states tried to secede, you know what happened.
