Ali didn't evade anything. He refused to go, spent some time in jail, was stripped of his title and not allowed to fight in his prime, his livelyhood. For refusing to be a coerced slave in America! How can the draft be anything but slavery when your choices are to fight, go to jail, flee the country or avoid slavery with some subtrefuge? Ali is a hero to me, and millions of others the world over. He was one of the few who stood up and just said NO, and took the consequences.
