I don't really see this as a debating thread. This is the place to talk about how to help Kerry get elected. There are plenty of "debate" threads on SI. Hence the title: "John Kerry for President".

We still welcome undecideds. I think the last one showed up in March <G>.

We tolerate Bush supporters that want to challenge Kerry's positions as long as they are polite and discuss issues (not smears). Very few Bush supporters want to discuss the issues for obvious reasons.

I'm not sure what you mean about "fascist maneuvers" to suppress the SmearVets. I would go after them even harder. If the Smearies impugned my character, I would respond even more forcefully than Kerry. IMO, Kerry is showing great restraint. How do you counter lies about your character? That is always tough, but I like that Kerry points out this is standard Bush/Rove modus operandi.

Best to you.

Thank you for your post, zeta.
I see you have had *quite* a different experience than I (or most democrats) have had on the P for P thread.

May I suggest to you that what you did was simply reiterate my so-clearly-democratic point here:

so are you..that is, just another citizen..one vote

for which I am grateful. -g

It's interesting to me to hear that you feel that many democrats are acting like "blind followers", as that is how many of us feel the average American citizen has been positioned by the Bush administration wrt this "war"-- told to follow their lead, blindly. Gullibly. And with disastrous effect.

It's interesting that you consider "question<ing> a citizen's credentials during a time of war" to be "humiliating" to him, while at the same time suggesting the same of the Democratic candidate.

It's interesting that you see the vehement democratic response to the swiftvets book and ads as "fascistic". I suppose you'd prefer the democrats simply take it with a brand of wimpy passivity for which the party has been roundly criticized in years past.

I have news for you: this is *quite* a different time.

I find this spelling interesting as well:

This behaviour has tipped the balance for me

You are a "card-carrying Democrat"?
Not anymore, it seems.
