The fact that SSI has always since inception ran a surplus and the fact that they, both Republican and Democrat have stolen that surplus combined with the fact that by like 2010 we will not be able to meet the obligations without having that money from the lockbox that never existed means the thing is a scam in my book. As to not getting the money you put in back, that will be a given IMO. They will means test it or something that will keep you from getting anything from it is more likely if you've planned for your own retirement.
