His first Purple Heart was for a scratch "self-inflicted" from his own grenade, similar to Kerrys.

The Purple Heart regs are pretty clear on this. The key is "under enemy fire." Dole was under enemy fire. Both of Kerry's happened when he wasn't.

Wrong.

The rules for a PH clearly explain that the PH is only awarded for wounds and injuries sustained in combat action.

Dole was in a firefight. Kerry was not.

Dole also admitted it was not heroic. You figure out what Kerry has admitted.

First: Dole was in a firefight - a qualifier for the medal.
Second: Dole is not a candidate for this election. Third: The Nation article you posted was led by the democrats to counter clinton's lack of military time. It was a criticism of Dole somewhat like what the Swifties are doing to kerry with two big exceptions: (1) Dole paid a huge price. (2) Dole DID NOT come home and lie about the troops in Vietnam.

I'm not a particular fan of Dole but in his worst day he would be more qualified for POTUS than the current democratic candidate.
