I think of "Purple Haze". (Hendrix)

I have a personal reason. In the 1970s I was a fan of drive-in movie theaters. I went to one to see Apocalypse Now. I didn't want to miss the beginning, so I saw the second feature first, and the main movie (which was long) well after midnight.

The hero was on a swift-boat while the crew mates were releasing colored smoke while under the influence. Purple Haze was playing. In those days I was occasionally under the influence of smokes too, and I was that night. Suddenly the helicopters of the local national guard flew over in formation (I guess on their way from Ft. Hood to their section of the airport). I was so caught up in the movie and the moment that I thought I was under attack. I tried to open the car door to escape, but the pole with the speaker on it was close and I only suceeded in putting a dent in the door. I then ducked into the floorboards. It was the most intense movie experience that I can recall. I found the conclusion of the movie to be anti-climatic.
