First, the liberal media is groupthinking themselves into believing that they have now taken a good look at the Swift Boat Vets. So have most Kerry supporters. They are concluding after exhaustively examining every relevant fact that the Swift Boat Vets have been thoroughly discredited by the facts. To them, the Swift Boat Vets are at best, a smear job backed by Bush & the RNC. Watching the various news channels & reading the blogs accounts of all the major newspapers, that this is where they currently stand. They have reluctantly conceded the Cambodia lie, but do not see it as anything serious at all. The rest of the allegations to them are all discredited lies. I think they will collectively increase this POV more forcefully & then decide it will only be worth coverage to tell us the Swifties are a bunch of disgruntled liars with a chip on their shoulders with Bush pulling the strings. The second cocoon comprises right leaning folks like us & many bloggers who have followed this closely. We know most of the facts. To us this is a very damning case against Kerry that thoroughly calls into question his character, his lifelong penchant for lying, gross exaggerations, revising history & self-aggrandizement, all to further his political aspirations. It's also proof positive of how horrific the liberal media has become. Many of us are generally convinced this has blown a irrepairable hole in the Kerry campaign & exposed the liberal media for what they really are. Expectations are that Kerry will lose the election (perhaps a big loss). The liberal media will be forced to begin to examine their mortal sins & make serious changes. IMO, all this has done is harden positions on both sides. Nothing has changed in the liberal media or on the liberal left, except they are redoubling their efforts to help Kerry win in November. Maybe a few swing voters have changed their view of Kerry for now. I hope I'm wrong. If I'm not, then a lot of folks on the right are going to be in for a serious reality check.
