So you aren't getting wined and dined during election years. That changes. The facy is your legislators do care about your vote. It is your state that votes. Elimination of the protections of the electoral college would swiftly diminish the remaining States Rights and lead to many states leaving the union. Most of the states with port cities would be ideal candidates to break away first. Virginia and the Carolinas for instance. It is odd that I read people using fascist when talking about police, Republicans etc. The keystone of fascism is a strong oppressive central government in which people own property and business, yet they are contolled rigoriously by the government. "United" States is just what it says. If all the less populated states lose their involvement in the election of a President, serious consequences will follow. The Civil War was the result of the populated North over controlling the policies of the less populated south. Slavery was already on it's way out, but made an issue. It wasn't the cause of the war. Be careful what you wish for. Today, no soldier would attack the people of another state if they left the union. The duties of the Federal government are to provide common defense and expidite trade. If the trade becomes complex, the conn=untry goe down hill. Thomas Jefferson once said: Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have ... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases. I don't think it is a good idea. Wouldn't it be better if these guys actually CARED about my vote, rather than NOT caring because I was already in a RED or BLUE state from the getgo?
