I think Kerry is just being realistic ... you can't win a presidential election on pacifism.

Once he is in office, he will have to play to his base in order to get re-elected. And his base is decidedly against futher military adventures like Iraq.

The question is which base do you want our President listening to? Choice A is likudniks and christian zionists, Choice B is people who were never in favor of the Iraq war.

Do you support the idea of retaining a strong military in the US?
There has never been a time when war was completely absent.
There has never been a time in US history when the US did not have enemies.
Defense is necessary.

shrub's version of defense includes attacking non-threatening sovereign states...which is NOT defense. shrub has made the US an aggressor nation. A VERY stupid thing to do.

An analogy for, "Minor differences pale in comparison to their similarities", would be that genetic differences between humans and chimps pale in comparison to their similarities. But on the one hand you get reason and progress while on the other you get...shrub and neocons.
From your point of view, just getting rid of feith and wolfowitz should be reason enough to deselect shrub.

On another point...your "total subordination" premise is a bit flakey.
Perhaps you should start your own thread.
