Given the biased nature of the press, and the pollsters and their records in 2000 and in particular in 2002, any bets on them being accurate?

I have no clue. To me, the most striking thing about Rasmussen's tracking poll is that it's been essentially immobile for 3 months and more.

But if the last poll is different from the vote, I don't know how to tell if the vote moved, people lied to the pollsters, or the polls were bad. Now if you could scare up data that showed that the polls were consistently wrong in a predictable direction over several elections, that would be interesting. But I don't have the data.
