I think it comes from cheney's 5 deferments which he explains as "I had better things to do". And shrub's draft dodging by joining a creampuff unit of the TANG and skipping out after being too chicken-sh*t to go to a required physical....all because, as he's said, was a better option than blowing out his eardrum with a shotgun. That compared to Kerry serving two active duty tours...VOLUNTEERING to go to nam specifying Swift Boat service which was an 80% casualty rate job...receiving 3 Purple Hearts, A Silver star and a Bronze star. THEN coming home and telling some truths about a war everyone agrees was not a just war. THEN the shrubistas have the nerve to denigrate the armed services hiding behind a pack of liars called SBVT. It's not desperation...it's justified indignation.
