LS,
McCain and Bud Day read the events differntly. McCain changed his view of what kerry did when the grand reconciliation was reached along with recognition of NV and an end to the MIA issue. Kerry probably has mixed emotions about his testimony now. No doubt the left used him but for those of us who opposed that war, our view has always been that we did more good than harm by shortening the war. IF you were around back then, it seemed that the war would never end and we had two back to back presidents who were not credible or believable when they talked of peace. 20,000 americans died as nixon was making peace and we ended up being clearly defeated anyway. Did Kerry cause that or did Kerry prevent the loss of another 20,000 deaths in nixon/ford second term. It's an open historical question and i am never quite sure of the true answer. I do know that honorable men of the time will disagree about this for as long as they are alive. Mike
