Most newspapers are in the business of selling ads - that's the real source of revenue.

New York must be a dream market for them - you don't really see the ads online but the paper version is chock full of them. Same with the Washington Post.

I actually read the print version of the Washington Post mostly for the ads and reviews, which are a different kind of ad.

A lot of NY Times ads are for extremely fancy jewelry and other luxury goods - furs, high end cars, vacations.

You can really see this in tabloids which are given away free in urban areas. They make so much money on the ads they don't even have to charge for the newspapers.

Captain Ed and the First Mate)

Sound familiar, folks? The blogs are like a "hive mind." They link, feed off each other, and put out info. We do the same thing here. This thread is a hive blog. We have grown in popularity to the extent that we pass along information. People get tired of us to the extent that we "your another" each other.
