Cothran Respond to of 769670 US Denies Negotiating, Retreating in Falluja--Talks, Pullback Continue 05/03/04 FALLUJA, Iraq American military officials denied today negotiating with insurgents in Falluja or retreating from that troubled city. "We are absolutely not negotiating with the enemy in Falluja," insisted General Richard Myers, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at an afternoon press conference. "Though there were some talks conducted through sectarian intermediaries unrelated to the enemy. "And American forces are absolutely not retreating from the fighting in Falluja," the general added. "Though we have begun a limited tactical pullback unrelated to the negotiations we're not conducting." Asked about the sodomizing of Iraqi prisoners in American custody, Myers bristled. "Our soldiers have not sodomized any enemy prisoners," Myers declared. "Though some Iraqi detainees have voluntarily engaged in sex acts with each other while nearby members of the National Guard posed for unrelated photographs." Myers concluded the press conference by denying that the occupation of Iraq is an occupation or that the US is losing the war. "We are not occupying Iraq," he said. "We are liberating Iraq. This is not a war; it is an international police action. And we are certainly not losing this international police action of liberation. Though we have hit some minor setbacks since the end of major combat operations." General Myers then closed his thesaurus and left, claiming over his shoulder, "This is not a thesaurus. It is a vocabulary diversification device." ©2004 RealStupidNews.com realstupidnews.com
