Some literary types are incapable of anything of a practical nature. One time long ago I encountered a fat fellow with a flat tire on his Volkswagen microbus. He did not know how to fix this situation, so I changed the tire for him and he went on his way. He did not know that I knew he was an English professor, novelist, and literary critic (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/084466703X/qid=1093495361/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-4266321-2783014?v=glance&s=books) at the university where I was a student, and that his son belonged to a tiny crowd who were the first hippies to smoke pot openly on my campus. This fellow later moved to a larger university that happened to be in a state where I worked after graduation. While I was driving one weekend in that state, I heard on the radio that he was arrested for hosting a pot party with his students. I'm sure he was trying to forget that he could not change a flat tire.
