Help Wanted Index falls again

The Conference Board’s Help-Wanted Advertising Index – a key barometer of America's job market – dipped one point in July. The Index now stands at 37, down from 38 the previous month. The Index was 38 one year ago.

In the last three months, help-wanted advertising declined in six of the nine U.S. regions. Declines occurred in the West North Central (-7.2%), South Atlantic (-6.1%), East North Central (-4.9%), East South Central (-4.1%), Middle Atlantic (-2.1%) and Pacific (-2.0%) regions. Increases occurred in the Mountain (6.1%), West South Central (1.9%) and New England (0.1%) regions.

It should have been called Hurricane Cheney if they wanted to use it as an excuse for more unemployment claims. I don't think I would go into the office to claim my check if my city had been evacuated. <G>
