I think the NYC cops will be smart and let people have their say so long as they are peaceful.

What would trigger trouble is the tactics the secret service has been encouraging ... arresting someone who is silent and standing completely still because he is holding an anti-Bush sign, and charging him with "disorderly conduct."

That beats all, charging someone for disorderly conduct for standing totally stationary in a public place.

I think that the members of the different groups know that violence and damage will work against their cause.

They know that any vandalism will be siezed upon by the media, and the peaceful protest of the huge majority will be ignored.

I hope you are right that there will be few if any vandals, because they damage the cause of the many.
