Don't confuse an area with an ethnicity. There is much argument about that. Unfortunately the loss of the Library at Alexandia makes it very difficult.

Chris, advanced math is not an Arab invention. A simplistic form of algebra was used by Islamic Arabs. However, the use of the the name Al Jabar or "algebra was a rather recent translation and had no claim to the system of mathematics it came to represent.

Geometry is also ancient. Calculus is relative ne expression, not more than a few hundred years old.

Trigonometry was a Greek invention.

The concepts we know as algebra were born in many areas and long before Islam was a dream of the Barbarian Muhammad.

The Chinese, the hindus, the greeks all had their own variety, some useful than were others.
