ASHINGTON, Aug. 26 (AP) - Mortgage rates rose this week, although 30-year mortgages were still below the 6 percent level for a fourth week, Freddie Mac said Thursday.

The latest nationwide survey showed that rates on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages were 5.82 percent for the week ended Thursday. That was up slightly from the average rate of 5.81 percent last week.

For 15-year, fixed-rate mortgages, rates rose to 5.21 percent, from 5.19 percent last week. Rates on one-year adjustable rate mortgages increased to 4.05 percent, compared with 4.01 percent last week.

A year ago, rates on 30-year mortgages averaged 6.28 percent with 15-year mortgages at 5.60 percent and one-year adjustables at 3.84 percent.
