Nonsense. He could have hung out far away from the action and spend exactly the same amount of time that he wound up spending any way. He volunteered for action, and in a service that had a high mortality rate. Clearly, he wanted out quickly, else he wouldn't have come up with the bogus Purple Heart(s). Perhaps he volunteered, but didn't realize what he was getting into, I don't know (it is, after all, KERRY who has said he wanted to be "closer to the action"). But it is blatantly obvious there is more to the story than meets the eye. What's blatantly obvious is that you are making it up as you go along.
