Hi Jim - I have a slightly different take on your post about John Kerry's jerk behavoir.

Jimmy Carter or Ross Perot would not have behaved like that -
but one wasn't that good a president and the other had some "issues"...

Richard Nixon was paranoid and mean, but just the sort of guy to deal with the Russians. Lyndon Johnson, Ike, Jack Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, all had issues.

The president in many ways is an instrument of national will - maybe not someone you and I would invite to our house.

It is useful to know this stuff, but I don't think character, decency, and/or conducting oneself as a gentleman should be a major part of the job description.

Clinton and JFK were close to out of control, and in Clinton's case it obviously interferred seriously with his duties. Outside of those extremes, I think policy, decisions and results are more important.
