Running water exists in poor areas of the US too. But when there is crime or violence that goes unmentioned. News is the un-ordinary and the extra-ordinary not every day kind of things. Having said all of that i understand that by reporting only "news" the average american doesnt get the whole picture. But otoh, by concentrating on the "good" stuff, you might not realize how fragile things are. Water can run with US occupation but it also runs in iran where the mullahs rule and it ran with saddam for the most part as well. mike

If the US was under an army of occupation, the availability of running water would not likely be the number one issue.
