Bad cow! [just kidding]. I followed your lead and installed SP2. MS should warn a user that he will have to click approval in X minutes - they seem to assume we stick around for the upgrade.

SP2 installed Ok and I allowed rebooting. After that...

no icons in sys tray except spkr and lan.
No program [NAV, Spybot] would run. Nothing happened.
task mgr would not open nohow
browsers would not open
puter would not shut down
no apparent hd activity

Had to push the pc power button to turn pc off

Then I turned power back on and now everything works. The MS firewall is disabled [despite their dire warnings] and ZA is alarmed that so many new processes try to get on the internet. :)

I'll reboot a couple more times to see if it's slower than before SP2.

Gottfried

thecow, after installing SP2 boot takes about 40 seconds to the MS sound - seems a little slower. IE does not work - it fetches no web site I tried, even after I set security back to default. Firefox works ok.

Am I safer now? I don't think so.

PS: after reopening IE it works now
