re: And what about the Lithuanians? How come we invented basketball and still we're getting skunked?

Is this bad PR for the NBA, or what? Why would anybody want to watch the "bush league" NBA games anymore? Do these guys deserve their muilt-$Million contracts?

RE:"And what about the Lithuanians? How come we invented basketball and still we're getting skunked?"

Same thing. Lithuanians pass, screen, pick, roll, play a 5 man zone...etc.

Our game has evolved into a one on one, penetrate, dunk, play no defense game. Great for viewing.

The other teams simply played a collapsing zone which shuts down the penetration. You beat a zone by outside shooting.

This USA team simply could not shoot outside since our guards were more the penetrating smurf types.

The USA simply didn't know how to defend the screens and pick and rolls and other plays the rest of the world runs.
Often Argentina would get uncontested layups off of plays.

One thing I did notice is that even the big guys on the foreign teams could shoot 3 pointers.
