I think that was a very hard sentence. Maybe if I weren't sleepy it wouldn't be. Migraine night (my own fault), so I slept very late and I'm starving and have to work on our 2003 taxes today. Yes, 2003. Should we say we can not add a word, but may change its tense, or change singular to plural, that sort of thing? In one of these, I changed 'gatherings' to 'gather.' So kill me. Please do it before I open Turbotax. (I also used 'intimate' as a verb, 'intiMATE," in the third one.) There are many things I love being posted here. Thanks, all. Okay, here's the sentence, and below are four efforts, and I'm not doing any more with that darn sentence. Sheesh. I'm making the request that everyone paste the source sentence above their poem, please! From a party for hundreds at the Temple of Dendur in the Metropolitan Museum of Art to intimate apartment gatherings high above Fifth Avenue overlooking Central Park, the Republican National Convention in New York next week will be a more lavish, and certainly more expensive, affair than the Democratic bash in Boston last month. ..................... Four 5/7/5 haiku from the above: a lavish temple? intimate lavish affairs are more expensive .............................. a party -- hundreds overlooking Central Park. Art is intimate .............................. hundreds intimate next week will be more lavish overlooking more .............................. high, gather -- party at the Metropolitan, overlooking art
